2007 / 28 I never thought I'd visit a real Russian dacha, but dreams can come true. It turns out that in soviet times the government needed a way for the people to get more food, so it gave the people of St Petersburg plots of land outside of town, dachas. These days people go there for the summer to get out of their Kruchav-era apartments apartments (called Kruchshavites) and otherwise relax.
